Prevent Heartworm And Fleas With Dog Heartworm Sentinel

Dog heartworm Sentinel is a heartworm treatment that can be used once a month to prevent heartworm infestations. This treatment will not be effective if it is used against adult heartworms, so if you suspect that your dog already has heartworms, you should go to your vet immediately.

Sentinel is a very similar treatment to Interceptor, although there are a few key differences. Sentinel is not for use on cats. Although Interceptor can be used for cats without any ill effects, Sentinel is not marketed for cats and may not be safe. Additionally, Sentinel offers protection against fleas, which is different from the other heartworm medications on the market. If you're worried about fleas and other worms in addition to heartworm, then Sentinel is a good treatment for your dog. You can prevent or treat heartworms, hookworms, fleas, roundworms and whipworms.

Sentinel comes in packages with either six or twelve treatments to be given once a month. The different colored boxes contain different dosage sizes. While you can find out what size of dog the doses are intended for by reading the boxes, you should always have your vet give dose recommendations.

Your vet can write a Sentinel prescription for you.

You will need to get a prescription from your veterinarian in order to purchase Sentinel. Once you have that prescription, however, you can buy Sentinel at almost any pet store. Although it may seem like extra work to go to a vet in order to get a prescription for a heartworm preventative, you should keep in mind that this medication works differently depending on the breed of dog that you have.

Collie owners, for example, should be wary of using once monthly heartworm medications. Collies have been known to have bad reactions to some heartworm medications, so you should purchase the daily heartworm preventatives instead.

You have a few options if you are looking to buy Sentinel. Some veterinarians will stock the product, and you may be able to buy some from your vet. If you are worried about prices, there are several other options available to you. Most pet stores will sell Sentinel and other once-monthly heartworm treatments at lower prices.

You can also buy Sentinel or other heartworm medications online at discounted prices. In any case, buying Sentinel is much cheaper in the long run, and much healthier for your dog than risking heartworm would be.
