A Few Tips On How To Treat Dog Mange
Mange is a condition that causes itchiness, irritation of the skin, and loss of hair. The condition results from little bugs digging under the pets skin, causing it to both feel and look uncomfortable. There are lots of different types of mange and therefore it is important for you to take your dog to the vet in order to get a proper diagnosis. Only once a proper diagnosis has been done can you find the proper treatment for the specific problem that your dog has.
In order to treat mange you should do several things. You should firstly give your dog a bath in order to prevent any secondary infections appearing and to remove any dead or flaky skin from your dog.
You should also make sure that you are feeding your pet all of the right types of foods that it needs. They should certainly be getting lots of different types of nutrients and vitamins into their diet and in the right quantities as well.
You should also give your pet supplements that will contain fatty acids. Vitamin supplements that have omega-3 fatty acids in them will help you to keep your dogs skin looking healthy and shiny. Make sure that you make this part of their daily nutritional routine in order to keep mange away.
If you take your dog to the veterinarian they may also be able to offer you the option of using a special solution that your animal can be dipped in. In most cases you will have to return for several sessions of this in order to have the desired effect.
The vet will also prescribe you with a certain medication, again depending upon the severity of the mange that your dog has. Make sure that you follow the instructions given by the vet and that you apply the fungal cream or any other medication that you are given on a regular basis.
It is also important to wash bedding that the dog sleeps on, and also focus on washing any bedding around the house that they may have come into contact with as well.
